BREAKING: YSL RICO Case Defendant Stabbed In Fulton County Jail, Trial Paused

Looks like things are getting hot as the trial date nears.

A defendant in the Young Slime Life (YSL) gang and racketeering trial was attacked and stabbed at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, causing the trial to be delayed – again, Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and defense attorney Max Schardt confirmed that Shannon Stillwell suffered from stab wounds and wouldn’t be able to be present for the court appearance scheduled for Dec. 11. “Shannon was stabbed in jail,” Schardt said via text message. “Other than he survived, I don’t know much else.” Stillwell is in the hospital recovering from the stabbing that allegedly occurred overnight. Judge Ural Glanville announced to jurors and others present in the courtroom. “We had a medical issue come up with one of our participants,” Glanville said. “So we’re going to recess for the day.”

While it is unclear what led to the stabbing, according to WSB-TV, Stillwell, who also goes by the names “Shannon Jackson” and “SB,” is facing RICO charges, murder, participation in a criminal street gang, and gun charges. He is one of 28 people charged in the famous case, including Grammy Award-winning rapper Young Thug. Of those 28, only six, including Stillwell and Williams, are on trial.

The trial has been delayed several times for numerous reasons, including a deputy from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office being arrested and charged after it was revealed she was having a relationship with Christian Eppinger, another defendant in the case. Jury selection in the case started in January 2023, taking close to 10 months, with the trial officially beginning on Nov. 27. Four hundred witnesses are said to be introduced, prosecutors say, and the trial is expected to last six months to a year.

Hopefully, the trial doesn’t become any more bizarre than it already has been, including Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, saying the rapper’s name is an acronym for “Truly Humble Under God.”
