Film Session: A look at Indiana’s late-game staggered ball screens against Wisconsin
Kel’el Ware sat on the sideline against Wisconsin last time around due to injury. But back on Tuesday night’s court, Ware found something with Trey Galloway in middle ball-screen action. Galloway passed to Ware continually for lobs and was also able to score himself on floaters against drop coverage.
But during the game’s final minutes, Indiana added a wrinkle, bringing Mackenzie Mgbako into the mix for three straight possessions to set a ball screen along with Ware for staggered sets. It mixed things up just enough for the Hoosiers to find other ways to score, get up shots and not be as predictable.
On the next possession, the Hoosiers returned to a straight-up middle ball screen between Ware and Galloway. Galloway connected on a floater to tie the game up at 70 before Malik Reneau’s right-block bucket and Mgbako’s free throws sealed the deal for IU at 74-70.
